The Jerseyland Dairy Project proposed to construct dairy barns, corrals, and waste-settling lagoons on approximately 80 acres and plant row crops on another 320 acres of agricultural land near Lemoore, California. In compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act an Extended Phase I testing was conducted to determine the presence or absence of subsurface cultural materials. No substantial intact deposits were identified during the testing phase. Therefore, this site was determined ineligible for inclusion in the California Register of Historic Resource; nor does the archaeological site meet the CEQA definition of a "historical resource." Historic Resource Survey City of Tulare - Field studies found that residential and commercial buildings in the West Side District have undergone significant changes, whereby not containing the requisite number of contributing properties for it to be considered a good candidate for a National Register Historic District. The building stock retains good integrity in the East Side District and homes in the area are now well over 50 years of age. Therefore, a portion of the east side of Tulare, appears to be a good candidate for a National Register Historic District. The Downtown Commercial District appears to still be in a period of transition. Redevelopment has improved property values, yet commercial storefronts still continue to be remodeled contrary to their historic character. It is unlikely that there are enough commercial buildings that retain historic integrity to qualify it as a National Register Historic District. |
